KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has ordered the release of Nepali Congress (NC) leader Deepak Khadka from police custody. A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla and Justice Shreekant Poudel issued the order on Thursday, while hearing a habeas corpus petition registered by Khadka’s wife, Binita Thapa.

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to implement a new formula to increase the share of local governments in royalties generated from electricity, mountaineering, forests, and mines, on recommendations of the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission (NNRFC).

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index slipped 33.83 points to close trading at 2,833.03 points on Thursday. The benchmark, which snapped a two-day losing run with a 33.27-point gain on Wednesday, erased the previous day’s gains and closed 1.18% lower.

KATHMANDU: Bharat Bahadur Khadka of Nepali Congress (NC) has registered his nomination for the position of Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the House of Representatives. A meeting of the NC’s parliamentary party held earlier in the day decided to select Khadka for the position.

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has finalized the leadership of nine thematic committees of the House of Representatives and two joint committees. A meeting of the RSP’s parliamentary party held on Thursday decided to offer the leadership of the Public Accounts Committee to the Nepali Congress.
