Kathmandu: The Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations, in collaboration with the Jeevan Vigyan Foundation, organized a special side event at the UN Headquarters to mark Second World Meditation Day 2025.

Welcoming participants, Permanent Representative Lok Bahadur Thapa described meditation as a quiet yet powerful tool for strengthening emotional wellbeing, empathy and human consciousness. He portrayed Nepal as a revered Tapobhumi and Punyabhumi, highlighting its long spiritual heritage, and stressed that the day should be seen as a movement to promote conscious leadership, peace education and a healthy, harmonious planet.

The programme featured guided meditation sessions, with Gurudevs LP Bhanu Sharma and Ramesh Prasad Nepal highlighting the role of meditation in global peace, leadership and wellbeing. UN Under-Secretary-General Atul Khare emphasized the importance of meditation for emotional balance, stress management and self-care, including for UN peacekeepers.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Deputy Permanent Representative Gyan Magar appreciated the contributions of dignitaries and participants and encouraged wider adoption of meditation principles for meaningful impact.
