KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City has decided to collaborate with Nepal Police to strengthen road safety and urban security in the capital.

The agreement follows a meeting on Thursday between Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol and Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki.

According to the metropolitan office, discussions focused on enhancing coordination to improve road management, public safety, and overall urban governance within Kathmandu.

Dangol highlighted key areas for cooperation, including traffic management, protection and proper use of encroached public land, management of informal settlements, and the campaign to make the city free of street dwellers.

IGP Karki expressed readiness to provide necessary security support, stating that coordination will be carried out through the Valley Police Office.

He also confirmed that designated focal persons have been assigned to streamline cooperation between the two sides.
