ANNFSU condemns burning of UML’s flag in dang, demands action
KATHMANDU: The All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (All Nepal National Free Students’ Union) has strongly condemned an incident in Dang where activists of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) allegedly burned a flag bearing the “Sun” symbol, calling the act a serious blow to democratic values and social harmony.
In a statement issued by ANNFSU Chair Deepak Dhami, the organization said that political differences are a natural feature of democracy, but attacking the beliefs and symbols of others reflects intolerance and goes against democratic norms and culture.
The student union warned that such acts undermine political tolerance and threaten social cohesion.
It demanded an immediate, fair, and impartial investigation into the incident, and called for strict legal action against those responsible.
The statement further cautioned that if the government remains silent or allows lawlessness to flourish, ANNFSU would be compelled to launch strong protest programs and nationwide agitation.
