Rahabar Ansari elected unopposed as Industry Committee President
KATHMANDU: Rahabar Ansari of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been elected unopposed as the President of the Industry, Commerce, Labour and Consumer Welfare Committee.
The declaration was made on Friday by the committee’s senior member Tek Bahadur Gurung after Ansari was the sole candidate for the post.
After his election, President Ansari said he would fulfill his responsibilities within the scope of parliamentary committee duties and authorities.
He emphasized that the committee would focus on addressing public concerns rather than limiting its work to formal reports.
Stating that the committee operates under clear terms of reference (ToR), he said it would actively listen to citizens’ issues and work to resolve them.
“The committee will not limit itself to studying bills and giving suggestions. It will function as a mechanism to address problems affecting people’s lives,” Ansari said, adding that efforts would be made to transform the committee into an effective problem-solving institution.
He also noted that past performance of parliamentary committees would be reviewed and efforts made to improve their effectiveness going forward.
