U.S.–Nepal Startup Weekend Challenge Begins in Kathmandu
Kathmandu: Chargé d’Affaires of US Embassy in Nepal, Scott Urbom, joined the opening of the U.S.–Nepal Startup Weekend Challenge in Kathmandu, a three-day accelerator-style program organized in partnership with One to Watch.
The program introduces U.S.-tested startup methods and connects Nepali founders with American mentors and networks to strengthen economic cooperation between Nepal and the United States. Officials said the initiative aims to increase collaboration with U.S. companies, investors, and institutions.
Chargé d’Affaires Urbom encouraged youth-driven innovation to support economic growth and resilient communities. He also introduced U.S. tech leader John B. Park, who led a session on product strategy, guiding participants on identifying problems, testing prototypes, and building minimum viable products.
Urbom said sharing American expertise in technology and entrepreneurship helps build long-term partnerships and economic opportunities for both Nepal and the United States.
