What is the situation of import and export when trade deficit has increased by 10.5 percent?

Kathmandu. The country’s trade deficit has increased by 10.5 percent.

This is according to the data released by the Department of Customs till November of the current fiscal year. The country’s trade deficit had reached Rs 649.68 billion in the review period. Previous fiscal year 2081. The trade deficit stood at Rs 587.82 billion as of mid-December 2018. Nepal’s trade deficit has increased by 10.52 percent compared to the previous year.

Similarly, goods worth Rs 766.18 billion have been imported till mid-December of the current fiscal year. Nepal had imported goods worth Rs 661.48 billion in the same period of the previous year. Compared to the previous year, the import of goods increased by 15.83 percent.

Nepal has exported goods worth Rs 116.50 billion till mid-November. Nepal had exported goods worth Rs 73.65 billion till December last year. Compared to the previous year, merchandise exports increased by 58.17 percent.

The country’s total foreign trade has increased by 20.07 percent to Rs 882.69 billion.
