Lamichhane calls for active Parliament, supports broad asset probe
KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has emphasized the need for a disciplined and active Parliament, stating that the legislature must move forward in an orderly and effective manner.
Speaking to journalists after a parliamentary committee meeting, Lamichhane said the primary responsibility of Parliament is to formulate and amend necessary laws.
He expressed confidence that the House would proceed with wisdom and responsibility.
He also expressed optimism about the role of the Speaker, saying he expects a positive contribution in ensuring smooth parliamentary proceedings.
Lamichhane further remarked that this year presents an opportunity to address and end the social anomalies and irregularities prevailing in society.
On recent discussions regarding the alleged disproportionate assets of the Prime Minister and ministers, Lamichhane clarified that all individuals holding public office fall under the scope of investigation.
He noted that a commission has already been formed and its Terms of Reference (ToR) include everyone from the Prime Minister to ministers, ensuring a comprehensive probe.
