KATHMANDU: Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of Nepal, Tap Bahadur Magar, has stressed the need to end the existing discrimination and exclusion in society.

Speaking at a program organized in Lalitpur on Friday on the occasion of National Inclusive Commission Day, Chair Magar said that structural discrimination still persists in society despite ongoing efforts toward inclusion.

He emphasized that for strengthening inclusive democracy, all citizens must be able to fully realize and exercise their rights.

In this regard, he said the National Inclusion Commission has an important role to play.

Magar also highlighted the need for wider public debate on the issue of inclusion.

Presenting data from elections held after the promulgation of the constitution, he noted that inclusiveness has improved compared to the past.

However, he added that a fully inclusive state structure has yet to be achieved.

Although the current level of representation is not entirely satisfactory, he said there have been visible improvements in the area of inclusion.
