Kathmandu, Dec 12: President Ram Chandra Poudel has said that the country should now prioritize economic development and prosperity following political change.

During a meeting with office bearers of the Nepal Democratic Fighters Association, President Poudel stated that political stability and good governance are the fundamental conditions for achieving economic growth and national prosperity. He stressed the need to end corruption, strengthen good governance, and further consolidate the federal democratic republic.

President Poudel said that conducting the general elections scheduled for March 7 is essential to find a way out of the current situation, develop the country, and reinforce the federal democratic system. He added that the people’s expectations after political change are peace, stability, and development.

He emphasized that the main responsibility of the state is to realize the dream of economic development through timely economic policies and programs that ensure social justice. President Poudel also expressed pride in the history of democracy fighters who dedicated themselves to the struggle for the establishment and restoration of democracy.

“The hard struggle and sacrifices made by martyrs and democracy fighters to bring the country to the stage of a federal democratic republic are always praiseworthy,” he said, noting that democracy fighters continue to work for democratic ideals, values, and loyalty.
