KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against two individuals on charges of preparing and using forged government documents.

According to the commission, a suspicious letter related to the Kathmandu Valley Development Authority was submitted with a missing dispatch number.

An investigation later confirmed that the document was fake.

The accused have been identified as former project chief Dr. Bhaikaji Tiwari and contract-based staff member Yam Kumar Karki.

CIAA alleges that they fabricated and used the forged document in an attempt to evade a case related to illegal asset accumulation.

Forensic testing from the National Forensic Science Laboratory, along with official records showing no registration of the letter, confirmed the document was not authentic.

The CIAA has filed the charge sheet at the Special Court in Kathmandu, seeking punishment under Section 9 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059, which includes imprisonment and fines.
