Hari Dhakal elected unopposed as state affairs committee President
KATHMANDU: Lawmaker Hari Dhakal of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been elected unopposed as the President of the House of Representatives’ State Affairs and Good Governance Committee.
The election was announced on Friday during a committee meeting held at Singha Durbar, where senior member Arjun Narsingh K.C. declared Dhakal elected unopposed as he was the sole candidate for the post.
Speaking to reporters after his election, Hari Dhakal said parliamentary committees are platforms that should rise above party politics and function through constructive debate and accountability.
He pledged to carry out his responsibilities effectively by incorporating suggestions and oversight from committee members.
Dhakal also said political instability in the past had weakened parliamentary committees, but with a more stable government now in place, their role would become stronger and more effective.
He emphasized that the committee would actively monitor state bodies to promote good governance across the country.
