TU issues encroachers 35-day ultimatum to vacate its land
KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan University (TU) has issued a 35-day notice to individuals and institutions occupying its property forcefully.
In the notice published on Friday, the largest university in the country said that land and immovable properties provided to it by the Government of Nepal and various donors for academic development must be vacated and returned within 35 days of the first publication of the notice. “The failure to comply will result in action as per the existing laws,” the TU said in the notice.
The TU issued the public notice following a decision made by a meeting of its Executive Council in the first week of April.
A study commissioned by the TU two years ago found that several individuals, companies, organizations and institutions have been occupying land and properties under the university’s ownership without authorization, in violation of the TU Act, rules and existing laws.
As many as 18 organizations are forcibly occupying TU’s land and properties, according to the report of the Land and Property Investigation Committee.
