PM Karki discussing election preparations with political, civil society representatives
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki is holding discussions on laws and management related to the upcoming House of Representatives election with representatives of political parties and civil society.
The meeting will begin at 1 pm at Singha Durbar, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
Officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Election Commission will make their preparations for the elections at the meeting. Second-tier leaders of major political parties are participating in the meeting.
UML will be represented in the meeting by General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel and Mahesh Bartaula, while Joint General Secretary Mahendra Yadav will represent the Nepali Congress. Similarly, Barsha Man Pun and Rajendra Pandey from the Nepali Communist Party, and Shishir Khanal and Sobita Gautam from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) are also attending the meeting.
Although Prime Minister Karki has been expediting consultations regarding the March 5 election, she has yet to meet top-level leaders from the major political parties.
