CIAA files graft case against Bhaikaji Tiwari
KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against former Kathmandu Valley Development Authority Commissioner Bhaikaji Tiwari on charges of amassing property disproportionate to income.
The constitutional anti-graft body lodged the case against Tiwari at the Special Court on Thursday. CIAA is seeking to recover Rs 105.49 million from Tiwari and his family.
In a statement issued on Friday, the CIAA said Tiwari was found to possess properties worth Rs 250.68 million, of which assets amounting to Rs 105.49 million lacked a legitimate source of income.
Tiwari had joined the government service in September 1987 and retired in April 2021. The CIAA said it initiated the case after investigating assets accumulated during his tenure in public service.
The anti-graft body has also named Tiwari’s wife, Meena Devi, and daughter, Meera, as co-defendants in the case, as properties have been registered in their names as well.
