KATHMANDU: Police have arrested one person on the charge of burning the flag of CPN-UML during an event organized by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in Dang on Thursday.

District Police Office, Dang, on Friday arrested Buddhi Bahadur Basnet (55), a resident of Kalakahola in Tulsipur–7, on Friday.

Some unidentified individuals are seen setting fire to the UML flag in a video clip shared widely on social media since Thursday night. The incident occurred as RSP cadres lined up on the street to welcome party Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane as he traveled to Ghorahi from Surkhet on Thursday night.

Earlier on Friday, UML issued a statement, saying that its attention had been drawn to the incident.

RSP Dang District Committee maintained on Thursday evening that its supporters were not involved in the incident, and added that the incident was caused by infiltrators.
