Kathmandu, April 14

The government has made public a draft of an 18-point National Commitment Document aimed at governance reform, inviting suggestions and feedback from political parties and stakeholders.

The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has called for inputs on the proposed “National Commitment.” The government’s previously announced 100-point action plan had included a provision to formulate and implement such a document by incorporating key agendas outlined in the manifestos of political parties.

The draft concept paper covers 18 sectors, including economic stability and reform, agricultural development and self-reliance, tourism and civil aviation, energy development and utilisation, mining and minerals, and infrastructure development.

It also includes employment and prosperity, education and health, forest conservation, environment and climate change, good governance and corruption control, administrative reform and service delivery, as well as e-governance and technology.

Additionally, the document encompasses social justice and inclusion, international diplomacy and foreign relations, utilisation of the knowledge, skills and capital of the Nepali diaspora, and sectors such as sports, disaster management, cooperatives, and microfinance. The government has sought suggestions from political parties on these areas.
