Fire damages Janakpur Refinery, loss estimated at Rs 150 million
KATHMANDU: A fire broke out last night at the Janakpur Refinery located in Mithila Municipality–7, Dhalkebar, causing an estimated loss of Rs 150 million, according to refinery manager Sanjay Gupta.
The blaze destroyed key equipment, including steam and thermofuel machines installed at the facility.
The fire was brought under control after about two hours through a coordinated effort involving five fire engines deployed from Janakpur, Mahendranagar, and Dhalkebar, along with personnel from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and the Nepali Army.
Meanwhile, Police Inspector Laxman KC of the Area Police Office, Dhalkebar, said it will take a few more days to assess the full extent of the damage.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
