RSP parliamentary meeting underway (photos)
KATHMANDU: A meeting of the parliamentary party of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is currently underway at Singha Durbar, focusing primarily on a key parliamentary decision regarding the chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee.
According to party sources, discussions are centered on whether and how the party should support a candidate for the leadership of the powerful committee, which plays a crucial role in overseeing government spending and accountability.

Amid growing political competition between ruling and opposition parties over the committee leadership, the RSP’s position is being closely watched, with analysts suggesting it could influence broader parliamentary alignments.

Party President Rabi Lamichhane is present at the meeting, which is also reviewing current political developments and assessing government performance.

Although parliamentary tradition generally grants the Public Accounts Committee chair to the opposition, disagreements between the ruling coalition and opposition have stalled consensus this time.

The RSP’s final stance—whether to adopt a neutral approach or support a specific party—could prove decisive in shaping the committee’s leadership and future parliamentary dynamics.
