Rohit Paudel to lead squad in League 2 tri-series
KATHMANDU: Nepal has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup League 2 triangular series featuring the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman, with Rohit Paudel continuing as captain.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) included wicketkeeper-batter Binod Bhandari, who returns to the national setup, while young batter Arjun Kumal has earned his maiden call-up following strong performances in the ongoing Prime Minister Cup.
Alongside Paudel, the squad features vice-captain Dipendra Singh Airee, Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh, Bhim Sharki, Aarif Sheikh, Basir Ahmed, Gulshan Jha, Sompal Kami, Sandeep Lamichhane, Lalit Rajbanshi, Nandan Yadav, and Karan KC.
The trio of Hemant Dhami, Sher Malla, Rijan Dhakal, Ishan Pandey, and Dev Khanal have been named as reserve players. The tri-series will begin on April 25, with Nepal opening their campaign against the UAE.
A total of six matches will be played under the League 2 format, with each team facing the others twice. Oman and the UAE will meet in the second match on April 27. Nepal will then face Oman on April 29, before playing the UAE again on May 1. The UAE and Oman meet on May 3, while Nepal’s final fixture will be against the UAE on May 5.
