KATHMANDU: Shram Sanskriti Party chair Harka Sampang has called on government ministers to disclose the source of their assets, following recent public release of their property details.

Taking to social media, Sampang directed his remarks at Prime Minister Balen Shah and his cabinet, urging them to ensure transparency by revealing how their wealth was acquired.

“Balen, do not bring more promises now. First fulfill what you have already announced. And you, along with all ministers, should disclose the source of your wealth. That is what the people are waiting for,” he wrote on Facebook.

His reaction comes after the Prime Minister’s Office published the asset declarations of the prime minister and ministers via its official website last Sunday.

The disclosures, however, triggered widespread debate on social media, particularly after reports highlighted that some young ministers possess significant assets, including gold, land, and substantial investments in the stock market.

Following the controversy, student wings of some political parties have staged street protests demanding greater transparency and accountability.

Sampang has consistently raised questions on the issue.

He has previously disclosed his own personal assets, stating that he owns around 4–5 tolas of gold, has a bank balance of roughly Rs 2–4 lakh, and inherited some farmland in Khotang registered in his mother’s name.
