Lamichhane warns against conspiracy to derail elections

bishnu 3 hours ago

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane has warned against any conspiracy to disrupt the elections.

Addressing supporters at the party office in Banasthali on Sunday, Lamichhane said attempts were being made to sabotage the elections in the name of restoring Parliament, and cautioned against such moves.

Stressing the need for unity at a time when the country is facing difficulties, he said no one should harbor intentions to exploit or plunder the nation.

Lamichhane added that the RSP stands with the government to uphold good governance and ensure that elections are held as per the stipulated timeframe. He added that the new political forces are united and ready to face the challenges ahead.

He also advised parties, driven by the arrogance of a two-thirds majority, not to dream of reviving Parliament again to protect themselves.

No choice but to hold elections, Gen-Z demands must be met: Lamichhane

Makalu Khabar 6 hours ago

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has stated that there is no alternative to holding elections at the present time.

Addressing party leaders and workers on Sunday at the party’s central office before a central committee meeting, Lamichhane emphasized the necessity of fulfilling the demands raised by the Gen Z uprising.

He made it clear that RSP stands with the government in ensuring good governance, addressing the Gen Z demands, and conducting elections.

He also paid tribute to the young lives lost during the Gen Z movement, stressing that their sacrifices must not be forgotten.

Lamichhane warned that certain forces are attempting to disrupt the elections, but vowed that such efforts will not succeed.

“There is no alternative but to proceed with elections at this time, and there is no choice but to meet the expectations set by the Gen Z movement. We have told the government that Raswapa stands with them in maintaining good governance, addressing Gen Z demands, and holding elections. But the government must also understand that our support is not unconditional. We cannot forget our brothers who lost their lives in the movement. At the same time, elections must be conducted. Some forces are trying to disrupt this process, but that is unnecessary; winning the party elections will naturally lead to success in the general elections as well,” Lamichhane said.

He further urged alternative forces to unite and move forward, warning against those exploiting the country’s current weak situation for personal gain.

Lamichhane returns to RSP central office after 216 days

bishnu 6 hours ago

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane has returned to the party headquarters for the first time in 216 days.

He was arrested at his home on April 4. Lamichhane had addressed supporters and party cadres one day before his arrest. He was scheduled to address a mass gathering in Chitwan on April 5.

However, he was arrested before he could leave for Chitwan when the Butwal Bench of the Tulsipur High Court ordered him to be sent into judicial custody to face charges related to cooperative fraud and organized crime.

Although Lamichhane was briefly seen in public after coming out of prison during the Gen Z movement of September 8 and 9, he did not visit the party office. He later returned to the Nakkhu jail.
